Timbe’s brother Shaban reveals to Goal that his younger sibling is currently in Holland for training and club is not willing to release him for national duty
Genk midfielder Ayub Timbe is doubtful for Harambee Stars ahead of Sunday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho in Maseru.
According to Shaban Timbe, elder brother of Ayub, his younger sibling is currently in Holland for training and the Belgium club have shown hesitation to release the player.
“The coach has told him (Timbe) to wait until Thursday to know whether he will be allowed to come for the match,” he told Goal.
He added:“The coach is not ready to release him and even then he may not come to Kenya but can only link up with the team in Lesotho. If he is to come then, he has to go back immediately.”
Another Belgium-based midfielder Johanna Omollo is out of the match and has already informed the technical bench.
The two players scored for Harambee Stars in both legs of their preliminary match against Comoros. Norway-based goalkeeper Arnold Origi pulled out of the team on Tuesday.
Foreign clubs are not obligated to release their players for this weekend’s fixture as it is not recognized by Fifa.
