Tusker should thank Odhiambo for salvaging a point
from AFC Leopards' as the goalie produced an outstanding performance at
Kasarani on Sunday.

Sunday's top of the drawer fixture between Tusker and AFC Leopards’
did not disappoint despite ending in a barren draw. Tusker goalkeeper
Samuel Odhiambo is one of the players, who made a difference on the
pitch with an outstanding performance which saved his side on several
occasions. The brewers were always living dangerously by allowing their
opponents to get the balls behind their backline. They should be
grateful to Odhiambo, who came out time and again sometimes to head
dangers away and managed to keep brewers’ in the match.
Congratulations to Samuel Odhiambo Goal.com's 36th Kenya Player of the Week winner! |
Honourable Mention
Patrick Matasi- AFC Leopards
Matasi was back in the AFC Leopards’ starting line-up when his side
took on Tusker on Sunday and was in impressive form and could be first
choice in up-coming fixtures. The goalkeeper, who made his mark last
season for Leopards’, had been sidelined for a while and has always been
in the shadow of Wycliffe Kasaya and Martin Musalia. However, when
Musalia made a mistake against KRA, the powers that be at Leopards’ did
not hesitate in recalling Matasi and he did not disappoint. He picked
every high ball and stood well on his line to deny the brewers a goal.

Dennis Odhiambo- Thika Utd
Another high scoring defender so far in Kenyan Premier League season.
He was on the mark again when Thika United edged out City Stars 3-2
with a trade mark free-kick. He is one of the few captains, who leads
from the front and scores crucial goals when it is needed. After a bad
run of results, Thika United seem to have made a dramatic come-back and
have now gone four matches without defeat.

|
Noah Abich - Mathare Utd
The former Tusker defender has become so dependable for Mathare
United on dead ball situations such that every kick and every penalty is
always his for the taking. Last weekend he was in his form again
scoring from penalty spot when his side went down 2-1 to Chemelil Sugar.
He has been instrumental in revival at Mathare United scoring crucial
goals when needed and remains one of the top scorers at the ‘slum boys’.
Abich has completely transformed his game ever since he was dropped by
AFC Leopards’ at the beginning of this year.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com Kenya, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.
You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly
accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will
be taken into consideration.
It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least
not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something
amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for
something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in
question deserves special attention...
