Former AFC Leopards striker joined his new teammates at Azam FC for training session and reports indicate he will ink contract before Sunday.
Former AFC Leopards striker Allan Wanga on Friday trained with Azam FC as he inched even closer to signing a contract with the Tanzanian club.
The Harambee Stars’ hit man trained with the team at Azam Complex under the watchful eyes of coach Stewart Hall. Azam revealed through their official website that Wanga, formerly of El-Merreikh, will sign a contract before Sunday.
“I am very happy to be here at Azam. My main target is to train as hard as I can so that I can impress the coach and also help the team when my services are needed. Azam is a good team with all the facilities required for a professional player and I have closely been monitoring the club and I am impressed with the way they have made big strides,” said Wanga.
Wanga also revealed that he hopes to settle in well into Tanzanian life after he puts pen to paper. “I had a lot of difficulties living in Sudan and that was one of the reasons I refused to extend my stay at El-Merreikh.
“I hope here in Tanzania things will be better and I will adopt as quickly as possible and get playing time to showcase my ability. Life in Sudan was very difficult for foreign players because the place is very hot and the environment not friendly at all. I am happy to have found a new home here at Azam.”
Coach Hall, who also coached Sofapaka in Kenyan Premier League while Wanga was turning out for AFC Leopards, said he will monitor the player in training before making up his mind. “I am happy to see Wanga around but I will need to study his style of play before we can move forward.”
