Gor Mahia host Nakuru AllStars
Gor Mahia will miss the services of left full back Geoffrey Walusimbi and mercurial midfielder Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito when they host struggling Nakuru AllStars in a midweek tie at Nairobi City Stadium.
The duo have joined their Uganda Cranes counterparts ahead of their national team’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game against Mauritania to be played on Saturday.
Their departure gives an opportunity to other players to showcase their capabilities, and a chance for the Gor technical bench to assess the depth of the squad especially in midfield and defence.
Coach Bobby Williamson reiterated that the absence of the two Ugandans will not affect their performance of the team as he has able replacements.
“We are not going to have the two Ugandans, but we have able replacements for them”, the coach said.
The first leg away encounter against this team was disastrous as they humbled K’Ogalo 2-0 at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
Williamson is however, optimistic Gor will turn around the tables and display a good game, “We have played them and we understand they are fast upfront, but we will manage to contain them on such moves.”
Both teams face each other after registering maximum points last weekend. Nakuru AllStars edged out KRA with a solitary goal while Gor Mahia trounced Western Stima 2-0 in Nakuru.
Gor are currently top of the table with 34 points and a win on Wednesday will see them maintain and stretch their lead at the top to six.
