KRA 2-1 Bandari: Tax men rally from behind to bag maximum points
Bandari took the lead through former City Stars striker Jimmy Bageya but second half goals from Ezekiel Odera and Hassan Mohammed lifted tax men.
Kenya Revenue Authority returned to winning ways after coming from a goal down to sink visiting Bandari FC 2-1 in a mid-week Kenyan Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday.
Bandari took the lead through former Nairobi City Stars striker Jimmy Bageya but second half goals from Ezekiel Odera and Hassan Mohammed were enough to earn the tax men maximum points.
Former Gor Mahia defender Ivan Anguyo was sent off for a bad tackle in injury time but KRA still managed to hang on and bounce back to winning ways. With Thursday's victory, KRA coach Ken Kenyatta maintained an impressive trend of bouncing back to winning ways immediately after a loss.
The only other club with such a record are champions Gor Mahia. The KRA tactician said afterwards that they had managed to cut down on their mistakes which saw them go down 1-0 to new comers Nakuru Top Fry.
"I want to hail my boys for putting up such an impressive performance. They were determined to bounce back after the slight set-back against Top Fry and they did,” Kenyatta told Goal.
It was Bandari, who scored first when Ugandan striker and new signing Jimmy Bagaye netted the opener in the 44th minute. Bagaye scored from the only chance of the match by the porters. KRA came back strongly in the second half and were rewarded within a span of four minutes.
First veteran striker Ezekiel Odera netted the equaliser four minutes after resumption before paving way for Hassan Mohhamed to score the winning goal in the 52nd minute. Inspired by a two match winning streak, Bandari had the first goal scoring chance in the 20th minute but Bagaye shot Shaban Kenga's pass just widely.
Five minutes later, Hassan Mohammed had the biggest miss when he failed to beat the Bandari keeper after doing all the spade work. KRA made an early substitution in the second half as they went out in search of an opener with Ezekiel Odera coming on for Barack Odhiambo with the former instantly grabbing the equaliser.
Barely four minutes later, Hassan Mohamed doubled the lead connecting in Joseph Mulume’s cross to the far corner of the net beyond Onyach’s reach.
