“We expect to play at least two build-up matches against top outfits in Zambia before heading to Malawi for more warm-ups ahead of the league. Our target is to snatch the league title this season, I am optimistic we will achieve the mission,” said Mapunda .
Mbeya City, who finished third last season, are now fine-tuning in Mbeya under close supervision of head coach, Juma Mwambusi for the top flight.
Club chairman, Mussa Mapunda has attributed their decision to camp in the neighboring countries to a decision by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to fix a new date for the kick-off of the league. The league, which decides the country’s representatives in the Africa Champions League and Confederation Cup will start on September 20, nearly a month later than the initial date.
