USA beat Serbia to win World Cup

Serbia’s dream of winning the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup only lasted the first five minutes of the game before the US took control to seal a staggering 129-92 victory and defend their world title in Madrid, Spain, on Sunday.
The North Americans trailed by as many as eight points early in the game, but when Kyrie Erving took over midway through the opening quarter, the Serbs had no answer for his shooting from pretty much every spot of the Europeans' defense.
The Cleveland Cavaliers guard went on to finish the first ten minutes with 15 points for a 35-21 US lead.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden joined Irving in the offense end to build a 26-point lead as the Americans led 67-41 at halftime.
By the end of the third quarter Mike Krzyzewski's men rolled to a 38-point lead (105-67).
Such was Serbia's inability to oppose the US that a section of fans at the Palacio de los Deportes reminded everybody that perhaps Spain would have posed tougher opposition.
They took their frustration out on Juan Antonio Orenga, the Spanish head coach, chanting his name and demanding his resignation.
Unsurprisingly, Irving, who finished with a game-high 26 points, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
He also headlined the All-Tournament that consisted of Pau Gasol of Spain, Nicolas Batum from France, US power forward Kenneth Faried and Milos Teodosic of Serbia.
Houston Rockets guard James Harden added 23 points for the champions, while Nikol Kalinic and Nemanja Bjelica led the losing cause with 18 points apiece.
