AFC Leopards’ midfielder reveals to Goal that he was close to signing for Simba during the period he had money problems with GOtv champions.
AFC Leopards' midfielder Timonah Wanyonyi has revealed how he nearly joined Tanzanian club Simba at a time he had problems with GOtv Shield champions.Wanyonyi wanted to terminate his contract with Leopards’ after the club issued him with a Sh200, 000 cheque that bounced.
He revealed how at the time, he contemplated joining Simba but the Tanzanian club delayed in paying off AFC Leopards’ and this scuttled the move.
"When Simba heard that I was having problems with AFC Leopards, they approached me and were ready to offer me a contract. The only condition was that they pay off Leopards' but they delayed.
"Simba SC were considering either me or Paul Kiongera but since he (Kiongera) did not have any issues, they opted to sign him,"he told Goal.
Wanyonyi further said that he has now settled at the den and hopes to have more playing time after the club paid half of the money they owe him.
"I have decided to stay and improve my game. I realised that the more I am staying out, the more I get rusty. Furthermore, they have paid me half of what they owe me.
"The rest we can sort out. What is important is that I play consistently."
