‘Bobby’: Gor Mahia was let down by defenders

K'Ogalo assistant coach reveals to Goal that they deserved maximum points from Tusker in Sunday's match but says they will recover against Ulinzi

Gor Mahia assistant coach John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla has admitted that their backline gave Kevin Kimani too much space on the left flank and it cost them when the team drew 1-1 against Tusker on Sunday.
"We had victory snatched from our grip by a lapse in defence. Our defenders allowed Kevin Kimani too much space on the left and he destroyed us with that killer pass to Clifford Alwanga," he told Goal.

Ogolla however, insisted that they are on track to defending the title and do not feel any pressure at all.

"Overall, we played well. Of course we are disappointed that we did not win this match as we had wanted to. We are however, still focused on retaining the title and are looking at our next game against Ulinzi Stars. We still have the advantage of having played one less match and this may just make a difference at the end."
Meanwhile, former AFC Leopards’ goalkeeper trainer John Busolo believes Gor Mahia have what it takes to retain this year’s Kenyan Premier League title.
Busolo who was fired from Leopards’ last season, says investing in young players will continue to pay for Gor Mahia for a long time.
“Only Tusker can prevent Gor Mahia from winning the trophy for a second time in a row. The KPL champions have everything they need to defend the title; Young players and passionate fans.”
Busolo at the same time said that it is unfair to be hard on the team for bowing our early from regional Cecafa club championships held in Rwanda.
“If you ask me, I think the tournament was a good opportunity to expose the young players in a very competitive environment. The experience will push them to win the title.”
