Gor, Tusker share spoils.
Champions Gor Mahia were held to a 1-1 draw by Tusker in a thrilling Kenyan Premier League encounter staged at the Safaricom Kasarani Stadium.
Gor should however thank the woodwork and goalkeeper Jerim Onyango who kept them in the game.
After a barren draw in the first half, Gor took the lead in the 59th minute through a penalty that was converted by Dan Sserunkuma past Tusker Keeper Samuel Odhiambo.
The goal appeared to stir up Tusker who stepped up their game giving Gor hectic moments.
Gor rested Sserunkuma and Timothy Otieno and introduced George Odhiambo and Patrick Oboya but still they were under siege as Tusker rallied for the equalizer that came in the 84th minute through second half substitute Andrew Tololwa.
He had replaced defender Anthony Buki pounced on a rebound from Gor keeper Onyango who punched Clifford Alwanga’s header back to play for Tololwa to tap home.
Later in the 90th minute, Gor survived a narrow scare when Tololwa’s rasping shot hit the crossbar and rebounded back to play after a thrilling move that involved Tololwa, Alwanga and Kevin Kimani.
Sofapaka remain at the summit with 43 points with Gor second with similar points but with inferior goal difference while Tusker stay third.
