FC Pune City register solid win over Pune FC.

Kwang set-up Bolado for the first goal as FC Pune city strolled to win

The ISL side dominated the majority of the friendly, with coach Colomba optimistic of success...;

FC Pune City shifted over the I-League’s Red Lizards, Pune FC, in a practice match at the latter’s Mamurdi training ground by a comfortable margin of 2-0, as the Pune based Indian Super League (ISL) franchise continued their pre-season preparations ahead of the inaugural edition of the tournament.
Daniel Magliochetti and Bruno Cirillo started for FC Pune City in defense while Ivan Bolado started in the striker’s role for the Franco Colomba coached side. Park Kwang IL, the South Korean too made a start for the ISL team.
Pune FC started the game on the front foot pressing their ISL counterparts at ever opportunity, though the away team’s experienced defense held firm. Whilst both teams matched each other equally in the attacking front, with plenty of chances coming at either end, it was Kwang’s pass to Bolado that saw a clinical finish from the Spaniard which granted FC Pune City the lead.
The first goal acted as a trigger though, as an avalanche of goal scoring opportunities fell to the ISL franchise. None of them were converted though with Bolado particularly guilty of missing a couple of gilt-edged chances, as Pune FC found themselves trailing only by a solitary goal at half-time.
The second half resumed with a marked change in the ISL franchise’s tempo as they dominated the I-League side, which culminated in a free-kick on the edge of the home side’s box.  David Trezeguet, the marquee signing for the Pune side, made no mistake in burying the chance, in the 59th minute, to extend FC Pune City’s lead by two goals.
Whilst no clear-cut opportunity fell to the Red Lizards, they did get a succession of corners of which nothing ultimately came. The match petered out and at the final whistle, Pune City were rejoicing iafter a hard fought victory.
Post match, Italian coach Franco Colomba sounded pretty pleased with his side’s progress though cautious, as he elucidated, “We played well, but there are areas that we still need to address and we will work hard to improve ourselves before the tournament begins. It's nice that we are gelling well as a unit but there is still a long way to go.”
