Goalkeeper and captain reveals that K’Ogalo should have hauled maximum points against dockers had their striking force been clinical in final third.
Fredrick Onyango believes Gor Mahia could have beaten Bandari on Wednesday had they been more precise in the final third.Coach Frank Nutall’s side inched two points ahead of closest title rivals Sofapaka with a draw at City Stadium, a result which stretched their unbeaten run to eleven games.
With Bandari opting to sit back and try to catch the hosts on the break in second half, Gor Mahia began to control the game but could not break through a stubborn defence.
“We battled hard and tried to break them down and we managed to do it a couple of times, but we didn't quite get that final ball right," Onyango told club website.
"We're happy with the way we battled and performed but disappointed with the final ball and not getting that goal.
“This was our game in hand and it was important not to lose it. We wanted to win it but credit to them, they were quite well organized. You have these sorts of games and that's when it's important to stay solid and compact and not give them anything as well.
“Hopefully we can go into the next game (against City Stars) and get back to winning ways. What is important now is to keep focusing on our performances and our results and we'll see where we are at the end of the season.”
