Southampton star insists referee Malang Diedhiou denied Harambee Stars a first half penalty that went on to cost team against Morocco's Atlas Lions.
Kenya captain Victor Wanyama insists decision by referee to deny them a first half penalty went on to cost the side in a 3-0 defeat to Morocco on Monday night.
“We played a very decent first half and the referee (Malang Diedhiou from Senegal) was at fault to deny us a penalty when Ayub Timbe was brought down inside the box.
“It was a clean penalty and when I asked him why he had turned it down…he never answered but waved me back.
“We also had three or four professional fouls committed on our players outside Morocco box but the referee didn’t give us. It was a frustrating night for us because if such decisions had gone our way then we should be talking of a different result," the Southampton midfielder told Goal after the match.
Kenya goalkeeper Arnold Origi, who was returning after missing both legs of Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Lesotho, admits that the team was punished because of ‘our own mistakes.’

“It is a new team and I hope the lads have learnt something out of the game. We should now focus ahead and look to better this performance. We were punished because of our own mistakes. You cannot make such blunders at this level and expect not to be punished.”
Badou Ezzaki's Morocco struggled to break down Kenya and needed El Mehdi Karnass, Mbark Boussoufa and Mouhcine Iajour to net in last 15 minutes to secure victory. Kenya bravely held out for 76 minutes at the Stade de Marrakech, before Karnass - in just his second international appearance - struck the opener for the hosts.
The defensive aspect of Williamson’s men had been their focus but their goal was peppered in dying stages - as Boussoufa converted from the spot four minutes from time, for his sixth goal for his country.

Iajour added a third in 89th minute, as Morocco celebrated their third win in a row, and second in four days after a 4-0 win over Central African Republic.
It was Iajour's fifth goal in his ninth cap. Kenya are without a win in six internationals, losing three of their past four. The outcome also meant Williamson suffered a second successive defeat since taking over reigns of handling Stars from axed Adel Amrouche. Williamson lost 1-0 to Egypt in his first match in charge.
