Batoto ba Mungu drew 2-2 against Sony Sugar to fail to catch up with leaders Gor Mahia who thrashed City Stars 4-1 on Saturday at Nyayo Stadium.
Sofapaka title hopes were dented after being held to a 2-2 draw by Sony Sugar during in their Kenyan Premier League match played at Awendo Stadium on Sunday.The result keeps Sofapaka in second position on the log with 47 points which is five less than champions and leaders Gor Mahia. In Sunday’s game, the visitors had to come from two goals down.
Sony scored first in the 29th minute through Kennedy Oduor, who found himself at the end of a Marwa Chamberi pass and he made no mistake slotting home past David Okello in goal.
With five minutes remaining to the break, Samuel Onyango doubled the lead and it looked like Sofapaka would go home with nothing.
After finding themselves two goals down before the half time break, Sofapaka went all out and doubled their efforts as they searched for the equalizer.
It was always a matter of when they would get back into the match and did so on stroke of half time through Enock Agwanda, who pulled one back with a powerful shot that beat Lucas Indeche in goal.
Inspired by the goal, Sofapaka doubled their efforts in second half as their opponents retreated to defend. Felly Mulumba then made it 2-2 in 74th minute as he rose to head home with a powerful header.
