AFC Leopards 3-2 Mathare United: Ingwe cruise to cup quarters

Noah Wafula who has recently been on fire scored a brace within first eight minutes perhaps an indication of how seriously Leopards wanted a win.

GOtv shield champions AFC Leopards are through to the quarter finals of the tournament after edging out Mathare United 3-2  at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
Noah Wafula, who has recently been on fire, scored a brace within first eight minutes perhaps an indication of how seriously Leopards wanted a win.
His first goal was in the fourth minute and the second came four minutes later as he gave the champions a bright start. Then James Situma scored into his net in the 30th minute to pull one back for the losers.

Another goal in the 66th minute by Edwin Mambasa leveled the scores for United before Charles Okwemba ensured Leopards' went through with an 80th minute goal.

A heavy down pour neary disrupted the match as it greatly interfered with play on the pitch and the match was nearly called off at one point. United looked the better side in a water logged pitch and got more chances at goal as their players preferred to shoot from far and were almost rewarded on atleast two occasions.
Patrick Matasi in Leopards' goal was a busy man through-out and was forced to be extra vigilant to stop long shots sometimes coming at him after being deflected by the huge patchs of water. Trouble almost erupted before start of second half with irate fans demanding that the match proceed.
Mistaking the match to be a Kenyan Premier League fixture, they chanted Oguda must go! In reference to the company's Chief Exceutive. When center referees came back for second half, they surveyed the pitch and ordered the match be called off but fans would have none of it.
After about forty minutes it was decided that the match continues and when it did, Leopards' should have easily been up in first quarter of second half with chance after chance going begging.
It was Mathare Unitd, who however, got on score sheet first with Edwin Mambasa beating Patrick Matasi with a long shot. Charles Okwemba however, saved the blushes for Ingwe with an 80th minute header which sent fans into a celebratory frenzy.
