Ambani says captain Victor Wanyama has been influential for Southampton this season and should scoop 2014 Goal Kenya Player of the Year Award.
Former international Boniface Ambani believes Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama stands head and shoulders above his other peers among most influential players of 2014.Ambani says the Harambee Stars captain has been instrumental for his club this season and should easily scoop Goal Kenya Player of the Year Award.
"In my estimation, he is clearly the best. Look at the kind of goals he has scored for Southampton this season. Apart from the goals, he has also been influential on the pitch and shown a rare fighting spirit," Ambani told Goal.
Also on Ambani's list is Harambee Stars number one goalkeeper Arnold Origi, who plays for Lillestrom in Norway's top division. “He has been consistent this season and on top of his game. He also won an award in Norway and to me that is proof enough of his class."
Origi has managed to keep his starting place at Lillestrom this season. He was also in goal for Harambee Stars when the team went down 3-0 to Morocco in an international build up two months ago.
Another player Ambani believes deserves to be on his list of best players this season is Tusker midfielder Clifford Alwanga. “He is a fighter and always hungry for success. Every time you watch him play, you see a player, who is determined to win and for his side to win."
Amabani, who last played for Tanzanian giants Yanga, has also listed Sofapaka duo of Enock Agwanda and Antony Ekhaliani Ndolo.
Regarding Agwanda he said: “He is forceful, powerful and with a terrific speed. He is the reason Sofapaka finished runners-up and won GOtv shield this year. Ndolo gets it for me due to his discipline and amazing contribution in helping his club do well. It is no doubt that he was named player of the year."
